Bruins Dominate Flyers! 6-3 Victory Fueled by Mittelstadt & Minten! (2026)

The Boston Bruins continued their impressive performance, thanks to contributions from Mittelstadt and Minten, as they secured a victory against the struggling Philadelphia Flyers. In addition to these key players, Viktor Arvidsson, Pavel Zacha, Tanner Jeannot, and Marat Khusnutdinov also found the net for the Bruins, who now hold a record of 32 wins, 20 losses, and 3 overtime losses. This outstanding run sees them at 10 wins, 1 loss, and 1 overtime loss over their last 12 games. Goalkeeper Jeremy Swayman played a crucial role, making 33 saves throughout the match.

Looking ahead, the Bruins are set to face off against the Tampa Bay Lightning in the highly anticipated 2026 Navy Federal Credit Union Stadium Series, which will take place at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa this Sunday.

On the other side, Travis Konecny stood out for the Flyers, contributing with one goal and an assist, while teammates Nikita Grebenkin and Matvei Michkov also scored. Unfortunately for Philadelphia, their current streak is disappointing, having lost three consecutive games, including a 5-3 defeat to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday, and a troubling record of only 2 wins out of their last 12 games (2-8-2).

In terms of goaltending, Samuel Ersson faced a challenging evening, allowing five goals on just 20 shots before leaving the game after the second period due to a lower-body injury. Dan Vladar stepped in during the third period, managing to stop all six shots he encountered.

The scoring began with Arvidsson putting the Bruins ahead 1-0 at 9:49 in the first period. He received a well-timed pass from Mittelstadt and executed a perfect one-timer shot from the right circle, slipping the puck through the goalie's five-hole.

Zacha quickly doubled the lead to 2-0 just 41 seconds later at 10:30. Morgan Geekie made an excellent centering pass that threaded through two Flyers defenders to a cutting Zacha, who skillfully lifted a shot over Ersson’s glove from close range.

However, the Bruins faced a setback when Zacha had to leave the game with an upper-body injury at 13:05 in the second period and did not return.

The Flyers thought they had pulled one back at 12:03 in the first period when Christian Dvorak found the net, but the goal was disallowed following a successful challenge by the Bruins for goaltender interference.

Minten then extended Boston's advantage to 3-0 at 2:27 of the second period. After a clever maneuver to evade a defender in the neutral zone, Mittelstadt delivered a backhand pass to Minten, who skated in and fired a wrist shot from low in the left circle, finding the five-hole once again.

Konecny responded just 49 seconds later, narrowing the score to 3-1. After Sean Kuraly turned the puck over in the center of the ice, Konecny was able to seize the opportunity and beat Swayman with a wrist shot aimed at the glove side.

Mittelstadt made it 4-1 at 16:12, following a remarkable save by Ersson, who managed to stop Andrew Peeke’s shot at the backdoor. However, Mittelstadt was in the right place to capitalize on the rebound, scoring with a deft backhand move.

Jeannot further increased the Bruins' lead to 5-1 at 18:40 by redirecting a slap shot from Peeke taken from the right point.

Grebenkin managed to cut the deficit to 5-2 merely 25 seconds later. Although Swayman turned away Konecny’s attempts during a breakaway, Grebenkin skated in to score on the rebound, converting on his third chance.

Finally, Khusnutdinov sealed the game with an empty-net goal at 16:30 in the third period, bringing the score to 6-2. Michkov then scored a power-play goal at 18:19, resulting in a final score of 6-3.

This matchup showcased not only the Bruins' strength and cohesion as a team but also highlighted the ongoing struggles faced by the Flyers. What do you think about the current state of both teams? Are the Bruins on a path to success, or can the Flyers turn things around?
