Starting from March 2026, Lidl is introducing a new minimum hourly wage of £13.45 for its entry-level employees, with the potential to earn up to £14.45 based on their tenure. The supermarket giant is investing a staggering £29 million in staff pay, ensuring that both salaried and hourly workers reap the benefits. Lidl proudly claims that this move will once again make them the highest-paying supermarket in the UK. And this generosity extends to all 35,000 staff members nationwide.
London-based employees will see their hourly rate jump from £14.35 to £14.80, with the possibility of reaching £15.30 over time. Lidl proudly highlights that its employees are the only ones in the industry to enjoy the Real Living Wage nationwide and the London Living Wage.
But Lidl isn't stopping there. The company is also doubling its paternity leave from two to four weeks on full pay, and after five years of service, employees can enjoy eight weeks of fully paid leave. This move is a significant step towards gender equality, as Lidl's Chief People Officer, Stephanie Rogers, passionately stated.
